1. Scope
HookedUp.org is operated as a California sole proprietorship. This policy applies to HookedUp.org and its directory and map pages. It does not govern third-party websites, map services, email providers, or other services linked from the site.
2. Information handled by the current site
Device location
If you choose “Use my location,” your browser asks for permission to provide latitude and longitude. The current site code uses those coordinates in your browser to center the map and show a temporary “Your location” marker. HookedUp.org does not send those precise coordinates to its own server, save them to an account, or retain them after the page is closed.
Analytics and performance information
HookedUp.org uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. These services process page paths, referrers, approximate geographic region, browser and device information, timestamps, and website-performance measurements. Vercel states that Web Analytics uses aggregated data, does not use third-party cookies, and discards its visitor-session hash after 24 hours. Speed Insights collects browser performance measurements such as Core Web Vitals.
Communications and business submissions
If you email HookedUp.org, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, business details, supporting documents, images, and listing corrections. The current site does not offer user accounts, a claim form, or payment checkout.
Technical requests
Hosting and network providers may process ordinary request information, such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and request time, to deliver and secure the site.
3. How information is used
- Provide the directory, map, location, and contact features.
- Respond to questions, corrections, advertising inquiries, and claims.
- Verify business ownership and the accuracy of submitted information.
- Measure site usage, performance, reliability, and security.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, false claims, and unlawful activity.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
4. Service providers and external services
Visitors’ browsers may connect directly to these providers:
- Vercel for hosting, aggregated web analytics, and performance measurements.
- OpenStreetMap Foundation services for map tiles. Tile requests can include an IP address and information about the map area requested.
- Google to retrieve the published spreadsheet used as a directory-data source.
- unpkg to deliver the pinned Leaflet and marker-cluster software used by the map.
These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies. HookedUp.org may also disclose information when required by law, to prevent harm or fraud, or as part of a business reorganization. HookedUp.org does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Cookies, tracking choices, and browser signals
The current HookedUp.org site code does not set advertising cookies or use cross-site behavioral advertising. Vercel Web Analytics is designed to operate without third-party cookies. Because the current site does not track identified visitors across unrelated websites, it does not take a separate action in response to legacy “Do Not Track” signals. Global Privacy Control signals are treated as an opt-out request where applicable; the current site does not sell or share personal information in a way that requires such an opt-out.
6. Retention and security
HookedUp.org does not retain precise browser location in the current site. The following periods apply to records under HookedUp.org’s control:
- Ordinary emails, questions, and listing corrections are deleted 24 months after the last activity.
- Sensitive ownership-verification documents are deleted within 30 days after a claim decision. A minimal record of the requester, business, evidence type, date, and decision is retained for three years.
- Advertising inquiries that do not become campaigns are retained for 12 months. Accepted orders, invoices, payment records, and campaign history are retained for seven years after the campaign ends.
- A minimal log of privacy requests and responses is retained for 24 months. Identity-verification material used for a privacy request is deleted within 30 days after the request is closed.
- Technical and security logs under HookedUp.org’s control are retained for 90 days.
A relevant record may be kept longer when reasonably necessary for an active dispute, security or fraud investigation, tax requirement, legal hold, or other legal obligation. Provider-controlled records are subject to the provider’s retention schedule. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but reasonable safeguards are used for information under our control.
7. Access, correction, and deletion requests
To ask what information HookedUp.org has about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email info@hookedup.org. We may need to verify your identity or authority before acting. We will respond as required by applicable law and may retain information when legally permitted or required.
8. Children
HookedUp.org is a general-audience retail directory and is not directed to children under 13. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Products shown in the directory may be age-restricted; visitors must follow all applicable age and purchase laws.
9. Changes and contact
Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date and, when appropriate, a more prominent notice. Questions may be sent to info@hookedup.org.
